Emma (Emma Boing Boing) and her dad were the overall winners of the Pachesham Agility Winter Series 2018/2019 competition. This is series of four events where points are accrued based on wins and positions. It was a close run nail biting competition with the final course being the decider. We are seriously impressed - both of them have come so far and learned much together. Much to our surprise even little Willa (Willa Willor Wont) brought home a rosette too. She loves to do the courses however she finds the noise and distractions worrying. The agility training sessions help to build her confidence, she is a bright little dog understanding quickly what she is being trained to do and enjoys racing about her four legged pals. Meanwhile, Farley continues to bark loudly and excitedly even though he hasn't a clue why! Isn't this the most stunning image, just look at her concentration. Wonderful photographs purchased from and by Gemsdale photography. In Rescue circles often the birthday is unknown. Instead the "Gotcha Date" is celebrated. This is the date the adopter acquired the dog, but maybe the date it arrived in the UK, either way is something to be celebrated!
Willa has been here two years, she was tiny and short haired when she arrived. Now she has made herself well and truly at home and we love her quirky little ways even if she isn't a bearded collie... Emma was in the agilitynet New Years Honours list for having moved up several grades. She is now competing at grade 3. Last month she was placed fourth in a class of 50 plus dogs so that was a great result especially as she was the only clear round!
Friends and I went out and about trying to capture a lurcher who had been loose since before Christmas. After Four weeks of monitoring, co ordinating and worrying, Mole Valley dog warden managed to secure her and she is currently in recovery pending rehoming. Then there was two Terriers missing locally, Billy and Rosie who probably went down a badger hole during a wet and cold period. we supported the owners and finally six days later the two little skinny tinkers were reunited with their family. Not long after, a Labrador got lost, luckily it turned up a day later, before the search party had to get into full swing! Our Willa continues to grow in confidence and is now approaching some people and touching them, we celebrate her 2nd Gotcha Day next week. Farley is as excitable as ever. His ear has fully recovered and has a black spot of fur where he was seriously bitten before Christmas by another dog. Miss Nattie now enjoys going for walks and travels in the car to new places, its great to see her blossom and, finally we wish Angel, Now Buster,a rommie resue who looks like a white beardie, A happy and long healthy life with his new owners in Cornwall (we transported him on a leg of his journey). This january and February has been so wet, hence state of mucky pups! Emma won her class at FAB agility show in September 17 so she now goes up a grade which is fabulous news for Jezz as he has done such a fantastic job training her. Mary Coe took some fabulous pictures, which we are in the process of buying so the water mark will vanish. however we want you to know who took these fabulous action shots! Willa continues to blossom. She now feels confident enough to approach other dogs and their humans, goes to advanced dog training and agility lessons. There are still bits of her "baggage" we need to unpack but its going in the right direction. We have registered her with the Kennel club now as Willa Willor Wont, get it??? Its such hard work jumping that a girl has to catch up on her sleep somehow! She also feels she can get away with digging craters in the lawn, but she is wrong! I continue to dog sit "Miss Nattie" and she has started to come out of herself. 4 1/2 months after she arrived with her adopter in the UK she has started to venture out on a lead for a gentle stroll locally. She is still lacking confidence but she has come on leaps and bounds and looks so much more comfortable. Miss Nattie also likes to lie in chives! Morning at Climping beach for a run about while the tide was out. Farley as usual out in the waves as far as he can reach barking at the waves to retreat...resulting in him being sick several times! Lovely day had by all. Emma and Farley had to have a bath afterwards, here is Emma all spruced up for a short while. It didn't last of course. Teddy is a spanish dog who came to the Uk recently. He was living with a potential adopter when he decided to pull himself out of the adopters hands, whilst wearing a harness and his lead. He survived running through Dorking high street on the A25 and dived into the countryside around Brockham and Betchworth. A large number of people helped with putting up posters, making local people aware, and looking for this energetic dog. Five days later he was spotted by a small group of doglost volunteers, of which I am one, coming out of a garden and making off down a lane. He was skillfully scooped up by a quick witted passerby (no easy job) and tied to a gate. Veronique, one of our group of volunteers was alerted and quickly drove to make him safe. He has a small injury to his head and a lot slimmer but otherwise undamaged by his adventure. It is thrilling to be part of such a fantastic little local group when the outcome is a happy safe reunion.
Basil has been to stay for two short stays, we think he likes our local walks and the company. He is such a lovely boy and Willa is rather taken with her new boyfriend, although in these photographs the boys were sticking together! We have vacancies for lodgers later in the year so if your companion would like to stay with us, please get in touch.
An interesting few weeks. Involved in helping the search for Lost or stolen Cockerpoos Mimi and Tinker. Eventually reunited with their family after 5 long weeks. It was fabulous to meet the dogs in person, still together after this period and in good health. If only they could tell us all where they had been!
Then there was Rosie, a Visla, who had recently had surgery and along with owners was involved in a hit and run traffic incident in Ockham. Great to be part of a community who were responsive and brilliant, resulting in the dog and owners being reunited after a day and night of nightmare. On a personal note I have now semi retired and getting to grips with our weedy veggie garden and helping a neighbour with her rescue dog from Romania. We had a short camping weekend in the Forest of Dean - stupidly expecting some of the great summer weather we have had. It was decidedly chilly there but great fun had by all! During April and May we had two beardie visitors whilst human mum had a stay in hospital. We loved having them. The pup was especially welcomed into the doggy gang and they got up to all sorts of mischief together..
The garden will never be the same, the lawn was dug and the flowers dead headed, it was great fun! We also had some great walkies together. Here is a selection for some of our snaps. |
Adele HallI was raised with dogs always about the house. Cairn terrier, German shepherds, Belgian shepherd, Bull mastifffs, Dachunds, min poodles. As soon as I could - the search was on! What bred would suit me? Then I saw a shaggy dog - the rest is history! Archives
