Friday 7th June- Three counties championship show in Malvern. Having previously decided we were going to be camping we were grateful to see that Sunshine was due! Thursday spent sorting out camping stuff and cleaning Farley. Awake 5 am Friday and Jezz drove us all (thats me, Purdey, Landa and Farley) to the showground, arriving around 8.30am for a 9am judging start. Our class was graduate, and there were only two dogs entered so after only a few titivation's, we'd been in the class and out again! 2nd out of 2, not a fab return on £25 entry fee!
Made a quick exit after a bacon roll (£4.00 yikees! and not particularly nice either) we were off to find our campsite at Newland, outside Malvern. small site, recently opened, and not busy so hairies could dash about. Walking on the malvern hills and health land was particularly breezy and despite sunshine promised, friday was rather dull and I complained of the cold!! So there was nothing for it, but to try out the pub just down the road! The Swan - perfect! cheaper beer than home, and good food, pretty garden and dog friendly. Saturday, we were joined by Rob and Jen and four legged friend, Willow, a brown Lab. Much greeting was done, walking and BBQ. A lovely weekend amongst friends and the sunshine did put in an appearance.. Farley has started singing/howling along to the radio- "Eurythmics, Sweet dreams (are made of these)", obviously a tune that has got to him... Sunday 2nd June
Bright and early all of us went to Newbury show ground for the Southern counties championship dog show. Whilst Jezz walked Landa and Purdey round the area, Farley strutted his stuff in the ring. There was something smelly on the grass in the ring and his nose tried to stay permanently attached to it! As a result, his movement was irregular. Finally achieved 4th place, out of 6, in Graduate class. After a spot of canine shopping - Jezz having a fit of the giggles when we stopped at Happy dogs dog food and we were told about "africa" dog food with ostrich meat. Jezz says he isn't going to fed the dogs on ostrich, when we wouldn't mind eating it either, instead of own brand baked beans!!! The dog food smells good too! Drive from Newbury to Marlborough to met up with friends, Ann and Woody. All 7 of us enjoy a walk in West woods, and the bluebells are an amazing sight. shame about the thick layer of mud which is now caked on the feet of all! Enjoyable afternoon spent in pub garden with hairies. pics to follow. |
Adele HallI was raised with dogs always about the house. Cairn terrier, German shepherds, Belgian shepherd, Bull mastifffs, Dachunds, min poodles. As soon as I could - the search was on! What bred would suit me? Then I saw a shaggy dog - the rest is history! Archives
